from Fuchsia Beauty
Thank you
In this my first foray into the world of beauty blogging, I want to start by saying a HUGE thank you to all my lovely clients!
When this pesky pandemic forced the beauty salon to close, I was really touched by all the supportive messages we received. I’ve been completely overwhelmed by how incredibly busy we’ve been from day 1 of re-opening; we missed you and clearly you missed us!
I really don’t take your support lightly because sadly lots of beauty therapists have closed their doors since the easing of lockdown. Clients haven’t returned in the numbers they had hoped. I’m so proud that since reopening, with your help, we haven’t had a single gap in our appointment schedule. You’ve booked facials, massages, waxing and nail appointments in your droves!
New ways of working
We’ve been working hard on getting back to normality. It hasn’t been easy for any of us has it? In the world of beauty, we’ve had a very strict set of guidelines to adhere to (quite rightly). Admittedly, when I first saw the pages and pages of guidance I was a bit dazed. However, when Becky, Kath and I worked through them, I realised we already had lots of the practises in place. Phew!
Warning little moan coming up… I ‘m frustrated that as an already cross-contamination aware, hygiene conscious industry, beauty was one of the first sectors to be closed and one of the last to be allowed to open. But I have ranted about that already, as you may have seen on our social media, so I won’t bang on again…! 😊
Welcome back!
Over the last month or so, I think I have managed to catch up with most of you. For those we haven’t seen yet, I want to reassure you we’ve made it as safe as we can. It’s been a real boost welcoming back regulars, and saying a cheery hello to lovely new clients. We’ve had glowing reviews about our Covid-secure environment from you generous lot. It seems those recommendations were a deciding factor for new visits to Fuchsia Beauty.
I have to be honest, wearing PPE (two layers of the stuff; a medical grade face mask AND a visor) took a bit of getting used to. As well as fetching head-gear, we’ve made some changes to the way we do things at Fuchsia Beauty HQ. So that you can still enjoy relaxing, rejuvenating treatments, we’ve subtly adapted our processes so you are safe and comfortable.
At the start of this pandemic, I decided that Fuchsia Beauty would survive come hell, high water, or deadly virus! I have to put you as clients before my immediate profit margin because I’m in this for the long-haul. I really hope you’ll continue on this journey with me.
Our Covid-19 secure measures
- We’ve factored in a bigger gap between each of our appointments. That extra time allows you to arrive and follow the hand sanitising routine etc. without having your treatment length reduced. Plus it enables us to follow a complete clean down of the chair, surfaces, equipment etc. when a client leaves before our next guest arrives.
- We ask all visitors to wear a face covering, use the hand gel as they enter and leave shoes, bags, coats etc. in our “quarantine” container at the front door.
- If you come to us for a regular manicure you recieve your own personal nail file and buffer which we sanitise and store with your client card ready for your next visit.
- If you come for a regular pedicure we use a “single use” nail file, but we know that there is enough life in them for you to use a few more times at home to tidy up any little issues you have in between visits; so you have the option of taking your sanitised file home with you to use again and help us on our mission to reduce unnecessary waste.
To be continued…
That leads me into the theme of next month’s Nail Files offering quite nicely! I am passionate about ethical beauty and do my best as a practitioner to reduce, reuse, recycle. Next time, I’ll be talking about the ways in which Fuchsia Beauty is working with the planet, not against it.
